Which brings me to another thought debate:
Car manufacturers making cars that last longer than 60k miles is a non-requirement, benefits them nil, and acts strictly as a social good by creating a product for a second-hand market.
They could design cars for the original buyer only, whom (on average) is able to replace said car with a new one well before 100K miles.
What about their reliability reputation?, you might ask.
Wouldn't matter if everyone made cars that were economically infeasibly repairable after 50k miles (generally speaking).
Are there massive holes in my argument? Why yeeeeees, yes there are. Feel free to poke and prod. 🙂
