I hate that shit. I get it, context, this dude was your bud and all and then shows up... defeated in a way. But I grew up relatively poor and whenever I was bummed or upset about something as a kid it was always "WELL IT COULD BE WORSE" or some sort of similar response from my parents. LET ME BE UPSET for a minute. By golly.
@facw All the US spec longboi Tiguans have AWD except for the base base trim, and that's what conflicts. The FWD has an I beam rear, the AWD has the same rear subframe and all that as the Golf R.
The chemistry of early matches made them highly toxic to the workers who assembled them. They used white phosphorous instead of red, and that caused a large number of fatalities and life-long disfigurement and disability.
I have no idea how easy it is to manually force the gear down, especially in a state where something clearly failed.
That would depend on how fucked it is. There are things that can be broken which would prevent "forcing it down".
I have seen cases in the past where it was dropped out by the mechanics, but every plane and every situation is different.
Perhaps they thought that even after forcing it out, that it wouldn't support the weight to be towed.
@Danny-Drives huh.....somehow...i missed every one of your 700 and some posts....
i was about to give you shit for just popping in here with a plug....good thing i checked first
could have made an ass out of myself there.... (you know...more than usual)
@beefchips I don't do free anymore. It's 20 bucks and if you're not a moron when you come you get it it will be free anyway. Free means your time is free too.
@RallyDarkstrike I thought you would have recognised that- it’s a Citroen GS IMG_3661.jpeg
The guy that built it was big into his Citroens apparently.
The bondo situation isn’t too bad, there’s a bit of a skim over the roof join but not really any on the other panels. The main problem is all the other steel that is there is in various stages of dissolving. One of the rear spring mounts just isn’t there any more.
@BaconSandwich i'm not sure how much is too much to eat in a sitting but I usually put away about a quart. between the golf and landscaping and building a shed i'm trying to keep my weight up - a problem I never had for 35 years
The build quality was horrendous. Even if you didn't abuse them, the Omni and Horizon wouldn't last that long. You would really need to love one of these to keep it running more than 10 years.
The 1981 Omni was my mother's car and my father had a 1982 Dodge Aries wagon. The K-Car held up far better than the Omni. (You know a car is bad when a K-Car gets held up as the standard of reliability.)
My mother got rid of the Omni after 6 years and got a Honda CRX Si. That only made the Omni look worse.
@Cé-hé-sin it could have been the dealer taking advantage of her, possibly
Could be, a refurbished battery for an '07 Civic Hybrid is $900-$1,000, but that is just for the part, there's a decent amount of labor involved if she's doing it at a shop
