@Nauraushaun have they really gotten lower?
Thinking locally, the best selling sedan in, say, 1954, was a full-size Chevy, which was 59 inches tall
By 1964, the best selling family car was still a full-size Chevy, now slightly lower at 57 inches.
By 1974, it was still a full-size Chevy, now down to 54 inches
By 1984, an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was still 54 inches, so family sedans didn't change in height for a decade at that point.
A 1994 Ford Taurus was still 54 inches, so no change in 20 years by that point.
2004 Toyota Camry was back up to 58 inches tall, returning to 1950s/1960s dimensions
A 2014 Camry is also still about 58 inches
For 2024, the Camry is down just slightly to a fraction over 57 inches
Other than a lowering trend between the 1950s and 1970s, the height of the typical family sedan has tended to be pretty consistent over the decades
