Mercedes isn't only luxury cars. The same misunderstanding is what caused USPS to not put the peace sign on the hood of postal Metris vans (they substituted it with an eagle logo)
Their commercial vehicles are very popular outside the US and Canada. The Vito (the name the Metris uses in other markets), the V-Class/Viano (more passenger-oriented version), the Sprinter, older G-Class trucks (before they started selling them here), the legendary Unimog, etc.
They even offer chassis cabs so that third parties can add their own bodies and make their own final touches.
Mercedes has a utilitarian side, remember 🙃
Even the car models they sell here, especially the C and E-classes, are available in basic models with cloth interior and smaller economy-minded engines. Until last year, they even came with manual transmissions. They are even used as taxis worldwide.
